By George Thompson, one of the prisoners." Book chronicles journal entries and correspondence between Thompson and his family and friends and reference to fellow inmates: Alanson Work and James Burr. The 3 were arrested for attempting to transport slaves from Missouri (a slave state) to a free state. 417 pages. Former Lawrence Public Library book.

Though there is no direct Lawrence connection, in January 2016 the Collections Committee decided this book must permanently remain in the collection due to its rarity and value.
