Some Notes on the Formation of Tubercles in Iron and Steel Penstocks
This article describes how pipes are coated in order to keep them from forming tubercles. Descriptions are given of the coating of pipes in Lawrence for use in providing water power in mills, as well as the resulting tubercles found on them when they are replaced. There are descriptions of the tubercles on the pipes, and the reasons for their formation. The use of different coatings is discussed, and their effectiveness in keeping tubercles from forming.
