The industry dates back to 1790 when Samuel Slater built the first US spinning machine. The Organization, ATMA, has roots going back indirectly to 1881 when th first textile machinery exhibition was held.( p.2) Textile Hall Corporation is a non-profit, self-supporting organization chartered by the State of South Carolina, and is best known for the textile machinery shows produced in Greenville since 1915.
