It struck the city at the Cricket Grounds, the extreme southwest section of the city, tearing along a northwesterly direction until it reached Broadway where its course veered to an easterly direction crossing railroad near the South Lawrence station. It swept down part of Salem Street and through nearly the whole length of Springfield Street. The storm cut a path 100 yards wide through the trees of Lawrence Common at end of Springfield Street.
