" This year is 1938 and you're looking inside Tony's Hairdressing Salon, one of many businesses located in the Super Store building on Lawrence St. That's 20 year old Hilda Gagne giving her friend Delia Condon a shampoo and finger wave at booth #2. At 50 cents it was definitely cheaper than an "updo" or a $3 perm. Hilda, a graduate of the Lawrence Academy of Beauty Culture on Common Street, worked an average of fifty hours a week for her salary of $16.50."
